Halong Bay

Two days touring the towering limestone cliffs that seemingly suspend out of emerald seas on a traditional junk style boat. Cruise the calm waters of this fabled UNESCO world wonder, visiting grottos where rainbow stalagmites + stalactites drip sculptural masterpieces + in the evening enjoy cocktails on deck as the sun sets + the moon beams shimmer.

Hoi An

One of Vietnam’s most enchanting towns, Hoi An is a haiku of floating lanterns + master tailors, pristine beaches + colourful fishing boats set on a river that was once a seafaring town for merchants from far flung corners of the east.

Mekong Delta

Board a local boat for a rare + wonderful ride down the Mighty Mekong River exploring the islands travelling along small canals to the colourful floating markets where row boats are laden with freshly farmed produce then ride a horse cart along country roads to board a sampan to cross the river.

Itinerary

day 1

Hanoi

On arrival, met + escorted to hotel. Rest of day at leisure. Optional Vespa tour of Hanoi by night, including dinner.
day 2

Hanoi

Full day tour exploring Hanoi’s cultural + historical highlights plus there’s time for shopping + socialising with the locals. Tour concludes with 1hr downtown tour by cyclo.
day 3

Hanoi to Halong Bay

A morning drive to Halong Bay, one of the most magnificent scenic spots in all of Vietnam, recognised as an UNESCO world natural heritage site in 1994. Board your cruise boat + sail Halong’s picturesque bay with almost 2,000 limestone karts or islets rising from the clear emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.
day 4

Halong Bay - Hanoi - Hue

Disembark late morning + return to Hanoi Airport for flight to Hue - widely known for its magnificent architecture, citadels, palaces, royal tombs, pagodas + temples, set against the banks of the Perfume River.
day 5

Hue

Begin with a Perfume River cruise by traditional ‘Dragon Boat’ to Thien Mu Pagoda. Continue to the Citadel at the Imperial Palace, the ostentatious Thai Hoa Palace + within, the remains of the Forbidden Purple City. A 1hr cyclo ride reinforces the scale of the citadel. Continue to the Tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, then the tomb of Khai on the slopes of Chau Chu Mountain. Conclude with a visit to the tomb of Minh Mang. En route back to hotel, stop at a village renowned for making incense sticks + typical Vietnamese conical hats.
day 6

Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An

Drive through the Hai Van Pass (Ocean Cloud Pass) + down to Danang + Hoi An where mountains seem to fall into the sea. Stop at Da Nang’s Cham Museum, housing a collection of Cham art + artefacts. On the walking tour of Hoi An learn about the history of this charming town along the riverbank.
day 7

Hoi An - Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City

Transfer to Da Nang Airport for onward flight to HCMC. On arrival, continue directly to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, a bitter battleground for many years during the Vietnam-American War.
day 8

Ho Chi Minh City

Full day tour from downtown Saigon to Cholon (Chinatown). Stop at the History Museum, then drive to Hai Thuong Lan Ong Street, specialising in Chinese medicines. Visit Thien Hau Pagoda + Nghia An Hoi Quan Pagoda, as well as other places of interest including Notre Dame Cathedral (inside closed for renovation until 2019), the Central Post Office + Reunification Palace. There’s time for shopping around Dong Khoi Street + Ben Thanh Market.

Ho Chi Minh City to Mekong Delta

Travel to My Tho + board a local boat to explore the Mekong River Islands. Cross the Mekong River + travel along small canals to see the local inhabitants’ daily life. Take a horse cart ride along country roads then board a sampan.

Ho Chi Minh City

Transfer to the airport for your departure flight, or alternatively, why not extend your stay on the beach at Phu Quoc or Phan Thiet?
