Venture Insight

Pass from the bustling delta of Vietnam and the vibrant French colonial port of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) travelling along the Mekong River into the rich countryside of Cambodia and the fascinating snapshots of river life, exploring the remote waterways until reaching the great monuments of Angkor in Siem Reap.

THE RV MEKONG PANDAW CRUISE

Fully refitted in 2013, the RV Mekong Pandaw features spacious staterooms, with finest teak wood, new bathroom, new air conditioning + new sliding French windows leading to the promenade deck. The numbers of cabins have been reduced to just twenty-four making way for a much enlarged spa, new gym, lecture + movie theatre, art gallery, fair-trade-shop + library on the lower deck.

Chau Doc

A sampan trip to visit the Cham villages is a must and the town itself retains a 'French' style charm with many old colonial buildings now housing offices of the Vietnam Communist Party and its many branches. The market at Chau Doc is excellent and well worth a wander through. The town is easy to walk around or you can choose to enjoy a cyclo ride.

Kratié

The small town lies on the banks of the Mekong River and is dominated by a central marketplace surrounded by old, French colonial buildings.

The Dolphin Grounds

A spectacular wildlife and nature reserve – the Irrawaddy dolphin symbolises the magnificence of the Mekong River and its continued biodiversity. The largest of only five remaining critically endangered freshwater dolphins in the world – it is an amazing spectacle to watch them splashing in the water.
