Wild Coast Tented Lodge, Yala National Park
Adjacent to world-renowned Yala National Park, the Wild Coast Tented Lodge overlooks a rugged stretch of Indian Ocean coastline. It’s designed in the shape of a leopard’s paw print, with stunning arched tents and bamboo-built communal areas that blend seamlessly with the natural environment. Dine on gourmet safari cuisine with a Sri Lankan flair in their natural beach garden and be pampered with Ceylon tea and cinnamon at the Sanctuary Spa, with the open-air Ten Tuskers bar providing the perfect setting for sundowners.
The lodge is a picturesque 5.5-hour drive along the southwest coast of Sri Lanka from the Bandaranaike International Airport or just over one hour from the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport. It lies at the southwesterly entrance to Yala National Park, offering easy access for naturalist-led game drives to spot elephants, sloth bears and leopards.
Your Rooms + Facilities
Bunk down in one of the lodge’s luxe white “Cocoons” or “Urchins”, which feature soaring vaulted ceilings, teak floors and repurposed metallic hardware (as well as private plunge pools in some). They’ve been designed with colonial-esque elements such as freestanding copper bathtubs and four-poster beds while boasting jungle views and outdoor decks overlooking the bird-filled watering holes.
Few islands in the world offer the diversity of Sri Lanka. From the vibrant + chaotic capital of Colombo, the central plains of the Cultural Triangle, tea plantations, exotic wildlife in national parks to coastlines of palm-fringed crescent shaped beaches.
On a different latitude but just as diverse and a little more cosmopolitan, Singapore has redefined itself as one of the great culinary cities of the world to be enjoyed over several days + not just a stopover.
