There’s no finer way to explore Thailand’s River of Kings”. On this journey, you will see many facets of Thai culture along the Chao Phraya river from Bangkok to Ayuthaya, admire historical temples, visit the summer royal palace at Bang Pa In. Cabins give an impression of luxurious comfort with richly varnished timber walls. Up on deck there’s under cover and outdoor areas with chairs and cushions to sit and observe the scenery and tranquility of life on the river.

Visit Riverside Landmarks + Local Markets

Transfer to the boat pier in Bangkok to join the Mekhala Cruise, heading north along the Chao Phraya River passing spectacular riverside landmarks along the way. After docking at Pathumthani, explore the 100 year old Rahaeng Market with its old wooden buildings with the opportunity to mix with locals.

Continue to Wat Kai Tia to moor for the night. Dinner and overnight on board the Mekhala Cruise.

Experience Mon wisdom, Summer Dwelling + Buddhist Monastery

As life wakes up along the river shore, cruise to Wat Sala Daeng. A morning village walking tour led by a local guide will take you around the authentic Mon village where the community migrated from Burma almost 200 years ago and continue to live their life under Buddhist teachings, strongly holding onto their identity by linking the lessons learned from their religious beliefs into their daily lifestyle.

Head back to the boat for breakfast and continue to Bang Pa In. Situated 60km north of Bangkok and within easy reach of Ayuthaya, it was used as a summer dwelling for the Siamese royalty and their consorts, created in 1632.

While the Mekhala winds its way to the historical city of Ayuthaya, enjoy lunch on board passing various ancient landmarks along the river before stopping at Wat Nivesthamprawat. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to explore this unique Buddhist Monastery. Dinner and overnight Mekhala Cruise.

The Peaceful Ko Kred Island + Mon pottery

In the early morning, Mekhala starts cruising south heading back to Bangkok. Breakfast will be served on board whilst passing the peaceful scenery along the river.Arrive at Ko Kred Island and explore the history of ethnic Mon community and its unique culture.

Observe local artisans and the craftsmanship of clay pottery before returning to the boat for lunch. Arrive at the boat pier in Bangkok and transfer back to your selected hotel in Bangkok

Cabins: Cruise in comfort in 6 well-appointed air-conditioned cabins with king size double bunks, cushioned sofa (converts to 3rd bunk), dressing table, ample locker space and private shower room and toilet.


Transfer by air-conditioned car/minivan to and from the major hotels in Bangkok; cruising + 2-night accommodation on board in sharing twin/double berth cabin of the Mekhala; meal plans as specified including water, tea and coffee; services of a qualified crew; sightseeing and visit as mentioned in the itinerary with local English speaking guide; group Insurance, VAT and baggage handling.
