Starting in picturesque Conegal, this is one of the great trails taking you through the heart of the “Garden of Ireland”. Along the way you will pass lakes, rivers, streams of evergreens and ancient hardwoods. You will cross blanket bogs, stop in quaint towns and villages. The relics of thousands of years of human habitation can be seen along the way – which are some of the most significant historical sites in Ireland.

Forest Trails + Country Pub

Travelling the route from South to North, the start of the Wicklow Way is in pretty Clonegal. The trail moves through forests before reaching Stanakelly cross roads where you will find The Dying Cow/Tallons, a cosy country pub just beckoning you to have a point of Guinness and absorb the atmosphere!

Winding Country Roads + Open Mountain Tracks

Highlights in Heart of the Wicklow Mountains

Wake up in the U-shaped glacial valley of Glenmalure,  the longest glacial valley in the UK and Ireland gaining altitude in your own time to make the most of the spectacular scenery in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains and allowing some time to explore the world renowned heritage site of Glendalough, in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains National Park and the most important stop along The Wicklow Way.

Georgian Estate + Dublin in your Sights

Walking over mountain tops and along forest tracks, Dublin comes into view and it is all downhill until you reach the beautiful Georgian estate of Marlay Park where The Wicklow Way finishes. Originally Marlay Park was a walled manor house with over 300 acres of land.

It is an idyllic location for a tea or coffee before making your way into Dublin city centre.  There is frequent buses to bring you into Dublin city centre from here where you will stay tonight. Consider adding an extra night accommodation if you wish to spend some time exploring the historic city of Dublin.

All accommodation along the hiking route is conveniently located in the centre of villages or towns (subject to availability. Upgrade options are also available in larger towns and cities. Breakfast is included. Itineraries can be made to suite your fitness, time available and budget. Practical and useful holiday packs are provided for: walking guide and or notes and maps. A 24/7 support number is given in case of emergency. Luggage transfers are included as standard as part of the hiking package which means your luggage will be moved each day to the next hotel on your itinerary. Excludes meals other than breakfast, airport transfers, drinks, insurance (recommended) and flights.
