London In All Its Glory
Not only is it one of the hippest cities in the world, it is also where history and tradition greet you around every corner, appealing to everyone from museum lovers and theatre goers, to lovers of fine food and discoverers of eclectic markets. Pop into a pub for a pint, sit in a park and people watch, or walk along the River Thames. In London, there is always something new to explore.
Happy + Glorious
Whether it is your first or tenth time to London, in any of the four seasons, put on your walking shoes and explore! History is covered with museums and monuments: from the well known British Museum to The Monument of the Great Fire with views to the Thames.
The finest art exhibitions from the Masters to the Moderns can be found at The National Gallery and Tate Modern, decorative art at magnificent The Wallace Collection and the V&A Museum, or experience authentic 18th century London visiting Dennis Severs house.
Surround yourself with scents of flowers at the Columbia Street Market on a Sunday morning, pick up fresh produce at the awesome Borough Market or wander the high streets for the latest in fashion.
Rooftop views of London’s skyline can be seen from The London Eye and any number of hotels, our current favourite The Courthouse at Shoreditch, or book a table for lunch at the cafe at The Portrait Gallery and be mesmerised with cityscape vistas. And for the entire family and number one attraction in London, Warner Bros. Study and The Making of Harry Potter! There really is something for everyone!
Palaces, Towers + a Pot of Tea
Even if you are not a royalist, the Queen is synonymous with London! We have a full day planned visiting The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace followed by a visit to Windsor Castle by luxury coach enjoying a two course dinner at a beautiful hotel opposite.
Then for something completely different, travel by restored vintage 1950s London bus passing London landmarks arriving at the Tower of London for a private tour, exploring the food stalls of Borough Market and then walking through the magnificent Westminster Abbey finishing in style with a delicious afternoon tea.
To round out the sightseeing, explore three of London’s oldest pubs on a fascinating walking tour of the southbank of the Thames with beer tasting included.
Ever changing like the guards at Buckingham Palace, there are always new places to find, new neighbourhoods to explore. Try staying in a different hotel in a new area – perhaps the East End with its edgy restaurants, markets and bars. In summer head to Hampstead Heath for a picnic lunch, in winter put on your skates at ice rinks at Somerset House and in front of the National Science Museum.
Walk through The Serpentine in spring with bulbs of daffodils, or in Autumn when the ground is covered in a coloured palette of orange and yellow leaves. Listen to jazz whilst eating cupcakes at Broadway market on a sunny Saturday, or cosy up in a London pub in front of an open fire with a pint as the rain beats down on a grey winter’s day.
Day tripping from London opens up entirely new experiences. Explore King Henry VIII’s abode at Hampton Court Palace then wander through iron gates into Richmond Park – stunningly beautiful on a misty day and where deer roam free. Spend the day visiting Kew Gardens and children will love London Zoo.
Explore historic Greenwich by coat and Leeds Castle described as the loveliest in the world, or visit quaint villages of the Cotswolds with recognisable landmarks from the series Downton Abbey.
4 nights' accommodation, meals as specified by your travel agent, private airport transfer, Venture Far Experiences (Buckingham Palace + Windsor Castle with lunch, London in Style with Afternoon Tea in Westminster Abbey, Historic London Pubs Walking Tour - with beer tasting).
Our Europe brochure has a wide variety of exciting experiences. Whether it is a self-guided hiking + cycling trip, taking a barge + cycling cruise, enjoying a food + wine experience in Sardinia, or spending days absorbing the culture of classical cities.
Follow in the footsteps of famous writers on a self-drive walking holiday in the UK; follow the last 100kms of the Portuguese Coastal Way to Santiago de Compostela along the stunning Atlantic Coast or explore a section of the Via Francigena in Tuscany walking from Lucca to Siena.
