Stunning scenery, picturesque villages and a wealth of wildlife make for a fabulous few days of walking. Discover the area’s rich history, from iron-age hill forts, to medieval fish traps and 19th century harbours. Dramatic Landscapes of the Ceredigion Coast
On arrival at Carmathen station, which is only a 4 ½ hr train journey from London’s Paddington station, you will be transferred to your hotel in the centre of the market town of Cardigan, known for its well-preserved Victorian High Street which is full of interesting shops to browse.
The next four days you will follow the Ceredigion coast that begins from Cardigan and finishes at Aberaeron taking in some very remote, but idyllic sections of the coast.
Sheltered Sandy Beach of Llangrannog
On the second night you will stay at Aberporth, a small village known for its two fabulous sandy beaches sandwiched between rocky headlands. The next day the path leads to Llangrannog, characterised by high cliffs and secluded beaches, and although this part of the Heritage coast has some hard, steep walking, the distance today is not too far, and you will be rewarded with some unusual scenery.
Charming Georgian Aberaeron
The fourth day is arguably the most spectacular part of the coastal path with fantastic folded rock formations with the day ending in New Quay, a pretty seaside resort and a well-known location as it is where Dylan Thomas wrote “Under Milk Wood”.
The final day follows a popular stretch which provides cliff top views and gentle walking to the picturesque harbour town in Aberaeron. With its wonderful Georgian terrace houses, it makes for a fine end to your walking holiday.
