Algonquin Provincial Park
One of Ontario’s oldest parks offers a feast of wildlife trekking, lookout bluffs, and campfire fun. This is the home to Canada’s sweet and sticky blushing maple trees, twilight paddles in the lakes and waterways and log cabins where open fires roar on the shore of Surprise Lake. Take a few days away from the world and lose yourself in the woods of Algonquin.
Beaver Ponds + Big Pine
Escape busy streets of Toronto by the Voyager Quest shuttle and head into the wild. In the northwest corner of the untamed Algonquin National Park you will find your own rustically wonderful log cabin. Learn the ancient art of riding a traditional canoe and journey out to Kitchie Island and Otter Bay. Your first taste of the Canadian shield, brimming beaver ponds and big pines will inspire and make you want to explore more.
Moonlit Paddles + Wolf Shadows
Lazy afternoons sitting in an Airondeck chair contemplating the scenery surrounds, jump into the mirror-like waters of the pristine lake or raise the body temperature in a sauna. Stretch out with a book with the sun on your back, or simply watch the clouds pass by with a cold beer in hand.
When evening closes in, enjoy the home-cooked dinners served around the harvest table by lantern light. Before bed take a moonlit paddle out across the water listening for the mystical howls of the wolf.
Foraged Foods + Ancient Crafts
Rise early for a ‘breakfast walk’ foraging for delicious edible delights from the forest floor. Afterwards, head up to Lookout Bluff for endless panoramas across the pine-clad forest, punctuated with the shimmering sparkle of lakes below. Take an afternoon workshop in bush or woodcraft, harnessing the skills of those of yonder year.
Take the canoe out for a serene paddle to Sunset Point, and watch the pink tinged sky flame red and orange like the camp fire enjoyed before dinner under a blanket of stars.
Maple Syrup + Canadian BBQ
One last sunrise paddle will leave you with a lasting scenes of perhaps moose knee deep in water. Invigorate all your senses with a fragrant maple syrup cookout in the long shadows of the woods, and continue exploring the vast waterways. An authentic Canadian barbecue lunch is enjoyed before reluctantly you head back to civilisation.
As you watch the flames sizzle the fat, and smoke rises up over the surrounding forest and lakes, count your lucky stars that you have had the opportunity to experience Algonquin Provincial Park.
